At the workshop held at Lavanta Tepesi Otel under the title "Future Roadmap in Vocational Schools - Education, Technology, and Sector Meetings," academia and sector representatives came together to evaluate important issues regarding the future of vocational schools. Vocational Schools Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ragıp Yıldırım stated that this event is not just a meeting but a process of creating a common mind and future vision, while expressing that education is provided with approximately 80 associate degree programs in 13 thematic vocational schools within MAKÜ, and students are being prepared for the future with new programs focusing on areas such as digitalization, artificial intelligence, and green transformation. Yıldırım also emphasized the importance of accreditation, sector collaboration, and practical training, stating that such efforts are a big step towards enhancing the quality of education. MAKÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar emphasized the need to reconsider the place of vocational schools in the university system, noting that in today's world where access to information has become easier, students seek not only knowledge but also inspiration and vision, and therefore, an education model that is guiding and practical should be adopted. Reminding that they are one of the first universities in Turkey to implement the 7+1 education model, Dalgar stated that thanks to this model, 65% of graduates gain experience in the sector and are employed, and that MAKÜ ranks first in graduate employment among universities established after 2006. He also announced that from September onwards, 3-5 micro-competency modules in areas such as digital transformation, sustainability, and data literacy will be implemented in each department. At the workshop, YÖK Advisor Assoc. Prof. Dr. İlyas Kara conveyed that there are 1010 vocational schools and more than 1 million students in Turkey, with a 100% occupancy rate, while MYK Turkey Qualifications Framework Department Head Özgen Uludağ talked about the ongoing work on micro-competencies and digital transformation. Throughout the day-long sessions, topics such as curriculum alignment, internship and employment collaborations, technological transformation, and graduate tracking systems were discussed, with university administration, YÖK and MYK representatives, sector leaders, academicians, graduates, and students participating in the event. At the end of the event, Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar presented the speakers with a facsimile of the Safahat Book, emphasizing that this educational vision spreading from Burdur to Turkey highlights the transformation of vocational schools.
